We want all attendees to have an enjoyable experience at PyCon Zimbabwe. All attendees – delegates, speakers, volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors, and organizers- must abide by this Code of Conduct. The organisers will act to enforce it.
We expect all attendees to show respect and courtesy to others throughout the conference. This Code of Conduct applies to all conference spaces, events and social media. It also applies when an individual officially represents the conference in public spaces, on social media and at events associated with PyCon Zimbabwe.
In the interest of fostering an open and welcoming environment, PyCon Zimbabwe pledges to provide a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body, size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender, identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, caste, color, religion, or sexual, identity and orientation. We encourage everyone participating at PyCon Zimbabwe to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy experience for everyone.
Behaviour that contributes to a positive environment for our delegates includes:
Demonstrating empathy and kindness toward other people
Being respectful of differing opinions, viewpoints, and experiences
Giving and gracefully accepting constructive feedback
Accepting responsibility and apologizing to those affected by our mistakes and learning from the experience
Focusing on what is best not just for us as individuals, but for the overall conference participants
Unacceptable behaviour includes but is not limited to:
The use of sexualized language or imagery, and sexual attention or advances of any kind
Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
Public or private harassment
Repeatedly instigating conflict, and baiting people into arguments
Publishing others’ private information, such as a physical or email address and pictures without their explicit permission
Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or exclusionary statements, even if they were meant as jokes
Sustained disruption of talks or other events
Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting
Conference organizers are responsible for clarifying and enforcing our standards of acceptable behaviour and will take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any behaviour that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful. The action that the conference staff may take includes but is not limited to:
asking the reported persons to leave the event without a refund
Informing the Zimbabwe Republic Police about the incident
passing on the details of the Code of cConduct violation to the Python Software Foundation
Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behaviour must be reported immediately to the conference staff or members responsible for the code of conduct at zim.pycon@gmail.com cc pyconzim@googlegroups.com. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly in confidence. PyCon Zimbabwe conference organizers pledge to respect the privacy and security of the reporter of any incident.
